About Everything Librarian

Librarians need to be able to do it all, and while we all posses the same basic training, everyone has holes. Learning new skills, especially ones that aren’t covered in school and aren’t always prevalent in libraries can make that hard. This site seeks to fill just a few of those holes.

This site is in its infant stage, just a few posts about storytimes, etc. so it’s not completely empty. We’re looking for submissions, guest bloggers, and questions you want answered! Please contact us with anything juicy you’ve got in your head.

What’s in the Works?

  • Guest blogs from professionals in different fields: Project Mangers, Software Developers, Social Workers and more
  • Short Tutorials
  • Resource lists (both print and online) for learning new skills
  • Advice and tips on how to adopt new skills and approaches
  • Support and general Cheerleading from myself and peers

  • I’m Jen Robinson, and in a former life I was a Web & UI Designer. Once I started working as a librarian, I realized I was pulling all sorts of skills and know-how from my previous career. I also just assumed everyone knew how to set up a blog or create a website.

On the other hand, I’m new at managing and desperately wishing for some Project Management basics. This is my attempt at sharing some specific skills and resources while also gathering information and advice from professionals working outside of libraries.
